In fact, each year during late May and early June, millions of shorebirds migrate to the area to feed on the horseshoe crab eggs that are deposited along the bay shoreline.
Because Middle Township serves as the County Seat and has a rich, historic past, Del Haven and the surrounding communities offer a quaint, historic charm. Throughout the historic district and on Main Street, for example, visitors will find many of the buildings were constructed more than a century ago. Additionally, since many of the bayside communities like Del Haven started as fishing villages, there is still an abundance of excellent salt and freshwater fishing opportunities for residents and visitors alike.

The Cape May County Park and Zoo is also close by, and County Park South and the Wildlife Refuge are also positioned inside Middle Township. The Wetlands Institute, Leaming’s Run Gardens, the County Historical Museum, the Middle Township Performing Arts Center, two public golf courses and a large shopping district are also found here.
